These Silverspun rims are available on all models of Brooks Banjos in 11”
or 12”.
About Silverspun Rims
I have been making these rims by hand since 2000 and they are the
finest rim I make. The sound of these rims has subtle beauty. They have a
mellow bell tone, clear and pretty notes with plenty of volume.
The traditional style I make has nickel silver turned over a 1/4” rolled
brass hoop on the top of the rim and the nickel is turned over a 3/16” brass
hoop on the bottom. For a deeper rim, I can leave the top of the rim
unturned, letting the wood rim protrude over the top capped with a 1/4”
brass ring. This style is 3” deep. On 11” models in this deeper style I
offer Bacon or Whyte Laydie tone rings. On 12” deeper style Silverspun rims, I can add
a Whyte Laydie or a Dobson tone ring.
The Silverspun rim option adds $200 to the base price of your banjo. Adding
a Bacon or Dobson tone ring to the Silverspun is an additional $150. Adding a Whyte
Laydie tone ring to the Silverspun is an additional $175.
